Inspect Compressors
Compressors should be checked anytime the system is serviced.
Items checked on compressors:
- The compressor should be bolted down tightly
- The Amp Draw should be checked
- Any strange noises should be investigated
If any noises can be heard, this can indicate a compressor is in trouble. Usually, the damage is already done, and it becomes a question of whether you want to wait and see how long it will last or replace it now before you get stuck without air conditioning.
The good news is that if you have your air conditioner properly serviced yearly, it can last for years without any compressor damage. That is assuming it was also installed properly.
